Is it just me or is Maple the new “IT” flavor for fall? Ohh there’s still plenty of Pumpkin Spice to go around but I am seeing more and more recipes based around the flavor of Maple. I decided to jump on the Maple trend and start with a cozy latte recipe. Simple Maple Spice Latte, is a super simple way to make a delicious cup of fall comfort.
Yes, our plight still exists here in Phoenix where it is still 103 degrees at the end of September but that will not stop me from drinking a hot latte darn it! I missed my hot lattes and was eager to ditch the iced coffee drinks I have been making all summer long.
This Simple Maple Spice Latte has all the comforting flavors of fall with maple, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and cardamom. It is like the coffee equivalent of a security blanket. You will want to make one every day!
With the kids back in school and their sports in full swing I like to resort to simple, easy to make recipes. Ones that I can whip up in a short period of time while still being incredibly delicious. This is one of those recipes where you can take a few min in the morning as you are running out the door and still have a coffee house quality latte to take with you!
Simply brew an espresso or a pot of strong coffee, froth some milk, add the maple syrup and spices then you are good to go! If you do not have a milk frother at home I have a super simple trick that you can try to give you that nice velvety milk froth for your latte plus work your arms out! ; ) Take a 12 ounce or medium sized mason jar and fill with 6-8 oz of your milk of choice (I use organic 2%, it just tastes and froths better) place in the microwave to heat for 30 seconds to one minute, remove from microwave put lid on mason jar and shake vigorously until you get the desired amount of froth for your latte. Voila, frothed milk!

- 1 shot of Espresso or 8 ounces strong coffee
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup milk (I use organic 2%)
- 1 Tablespoon Real Maple Syrup
- pinch of Ground Cloves
- pinch of Ground Cinnamon
- pinch of Ground Nutmeg
- pinch of Ground Cardamom
Instructions:
Add maple syrup and spices to the bottom of a mug, stir to combine.
Using a milk frother, froth milk or place milk into a mason jar and heat for about 30 seconds to one minute, until warm. Tightly screw lid onto jar and shake, shake, shake, until milk is frothy.
Pour hot, espresso or strong coffee over maple syrup and spice mixture.
Top with foamy milk. Garnish with whipped cream and more spices if desired.
