The Mermaid Smoothie Bowl, an epitome of the insane food crazes of brightly and odd colored foods. Unlike unhealthy sugar loaded milkshakes or blended frappuccinos this Mermaid Smoothie Bowl will satisfy your sweet tooth with fresh fruit and nutrient rich blue spirulina.
Unlike most spirulina powders, which are generally green, Blue spirulina owes its bright blue color to C-phycocyanin compound. Now I am not a botanist so I can not even pronounce that but I do know that blue spirulina has some amazing health benefits like the fact that it is high in protein and a good source of antioxidants and B-vitamins. Blue spirulina can be rather pricey, but the impressive health benefits definitely makes it worth the money and is naturally Instaram worthy with its gorgeous turquoise blue color. I mean look at how pretty that smoothie bowl is! You can search for Blue spirulina on Amazon and a ton of options pop up.
Whether it is my Acai Bowl recipe or this Mermaid Smoothie Bowl I like to add some additional protein to help support my nutritional goals. Plus my kids love these smoothie bowls and anytime you can sneak extra nutrient rich foods in is a WIN for any mom! You can literally mix and match any healthy fruit topping your heart desires. Since the smoothie bowl itself tastes mostly like banana you can add fresh peaches, dragonfruit or strawberries, the options are endless!
Enjoy this gorgeous Mermaid Smoothie Bowl during these hot summer days and treat your body to a nutrient rich sweet treat!
