Decadent is the only word I can think of that summarizes this recipe. It is a marriage of super moist Banana Streusel bread toasted topped with a boozy carmely sauce. I had over half of a loaf of Banana Streusel Bread left from my baking adventures earlier in the week. You can find the recipe below.
What to do when you have some deliciousness staring you in the face from your countertop begging to be eaten? You of course use it to make something even more delicious!! I have always been a fan of Crepes Suzette and Bananas Foster sauces. First and foremost because they are amazingly delicious and second because it involves cooking with rum! What dish wouldn’t be absolutely amazing when a main ingredient is rum. Nothing I tell you! Plus you get to put your flambe skills to the test. Which is just a fancy way of saying you light the sauce on fire in the pan. FUN right!
This French toast recipe is a bit unconventional but simply sweet and divine. Perfect for your next Brunch get together.
Enjoy!

- ¾ Cup light brown sugar
- ¼ Cup dark rum
- ¼ Cup heavy cream
- 2 large ripe bananas, peeled and sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
Directions:
Melt the butter in a skillet over high heat. Stir in the brown sugar and cook, stirring, until melted.
Stir in the rum and cook, stirring, until the rum is almost completely evaporated. This is where you can flambe the sauce should you choose. To flambe take a kitchen torch or lighter to the sauce, there will be a light blue flame and it will go out once the alcohol in the rum is cooked out of the sauce.
Whisk in the cream and cook until just heated through.
Add the bananas and cook for 1 minute longer. Keep warm while you toast the Banana Streusel Bread.
Slice Banana Streusel Bread about ½ inch thick. Butter on both sides.
Place the buttered bread slices in a grill pan or flat skillet over medium heat. Slightly brown on each side.
Plate the toasted Banana Streusel Bread with
