For those of you out there that know me personally know that I LOVE to cook Thanksgiving dinner, I always have. Sticking with mostly traditional recipes for the roast turkey and stuffing but when it comes to sides and appetizers I like to incorporate some non traditional flavors of fall. I know I will always find unusual and super tasty ingredients through Oil & Vinegar. They have an impressive variety of flavored Olive oils and vinegars as well as sweet treats like the Crema di Pistacchio that I used in these Pistachio Butter Cookies.
When reinventing the traditional baked brie I wanted the recipe to be super simple and ready in no time. I mean the holidays are stressful enough, why add to it with a complicated recipe am I right!! Just place the wheel of Brie in an oven safe dish, top with Kalamata Olive and Fig Delicacy, then fresh figs with pistachios and bake. Boom, you are done!
I love the flavor combination of the creamy melted brie paired with the Kalamata Olive and Fig Delicacy. It embodies the saltiness of the olives yet the sweetness of the figs in a well balanced spread. Plus, who can resist all that oooey gooey brie cheese spread on a piece of baguette or cracker with this delicious compote. Your guests will think you spent way more time on this Baked Brie with Fig Compote than you actually did, and the flavor well I think it is literally amazing but you must try it for yourself!
